After a summer camp in Austria she fell in love with the sport and started down a career path that saw her compete for 17 years and become a world champion climber. <br /><br />'I knew right away that climbing was my life and I could not see myself doing anything else. It is simply an activity I can’t do without,' she says.<br /><br />Now that she has retired from competition and started a family with mountain guide Nico Potard, Martina divides her time between her family, yoga, and on-sighting outdoor routes.<br /><br />'Yoga is a good compliment to climbing,' she says. 'I love starting the day, early in the morning, when only the birds are awake.
